PBIFF has always fostered and supported the artistic expression of film makers and others in the film and motion picture arts. Parker explains that, “emerging technologies offer filmmakers and artists new tools to express their creativity and bring their visions to life. Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and advanced CGI techniques provide immersive experiences and expand the possibilities of storytelling.” “By supporting these technologies, filmmakers can push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking, exploring new narrative structures, perspectives, and aesthetics.” “We are looking at the future of film making and film entertainment.”

Enhancing Audience Engagement:

Technology has revolutionized the way audiences consume media. Viewers now expect more interactive and engaging experiences. Parker explains that, “by embracing emerging technologies, filmmakers can create immersive worlds and interactive narratives that captivate audiences.” “From interactive movies to virtual reality experiences, these technologies allow viewers to become active participants in the storytelling process, fostering a deeper emotional connection with the content.”

Opening Doors for New Talent:

Supporting emerging technologies in film and motion picture arts creates opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and artists. These technologies often require specialized knowledge and skills, and by providing support, educational programs, and resources, PBIFF, PBIFI and others in the industry can nurture a new generation of talent. By embracing technological advancements, the industry becomes more inclusive, encouraging diversity and innovation.

Economic Growth and Industry Competitiveness:

Parker says that PBIFF and PBIFI believe that, “the film and motion picture industry is not only a medium of artistic expression but also a significant economic driver.” “Through the support of PBIFF and PBIFI for emerging technologies, we are hoping to also encourage the support of our local governments, educational institutions, and production companies and hoping they will see the potential for stimulating economic growth.” “Embracing these advancements attracts investment, fosters job creation, and bolsters local industries associated with technology development and production.”

Evolution of Storytelling Techniques:

Collaborative Opportunities:

Parker points out that, “emerging technologies in film and motion picture arts often require collaboration between different disciplines, such as computer science, engineering, and visual arts.” “By providing support for these technologies, PBIFF and PBIFI can foster interdisciplinary collaborations, bringing together experts from various fields.” “These collaborations not only contribute to technological advancements but also encourage the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and expertise.”
